Dr. Scruggs is a board-certified Ophthalmologist and one of only a few subspecialty trained Oculoplastic Surgeons in the state of Arkansas.  Her experience combines the meticulous nature of eye surgery with the creativity of plastic surgery.  Her practice encompasses both reconstructive and cosmetic surgery of the eyelids, orbit (eye socket) and lacrimal system (tear duct) for patients with disorders due to aging, systemic disease, trauma, cancer and congenital defects.

 


BACKGROUND 

Before returning to her hometown of Little Rock, Dr. Scruggs served for more than eight years as the Director of Oculoplastic Surgery and an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.  There she built a large, well-respected practice receiving referrals from doctors throughout Alabama, taught resident physicians and medical students, and lectured at local and national meetings as well as published book chapters and scientific articles.

Dr. Scruggs trained at several renowned institutions and completed a 2-year fellowship accredited by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS).  She received her medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where she earned numerous scholarships and awards including the Faculty Key, awarded by the faculty to the most outstanding graduating medical student, and the Roberts Key, awarded to the graduating senior with the highest GPA.

Dr. Scruggs is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and an examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology.
