The Physician
About
Dr. Scruggs
Dr. Scruggs is a board-certified ophthalmologist and one of only a few subspecialty-trained oculoplastic surgeons in Arkansas. Her practice seamlessly blends the precision of ophthalmic surgery with the artistry of plastic surgery, offering her patients comprehensive care in both reconstructive and cosmetic procedures. She specializes in surgery of the eyelids, orbit, and lacrimal system, expertly treating conditions arising from aging, systemic disease, trauma, cancer, and congenital defects. Before returning to her hometown of Little Rock, Dr. Scruggs spent more than eight years as Director of Oculoplastic Surgery and Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. During her tenure, she built a large, highly respected practice that attracted referrals from physicians throughout Alabama. In this leadership role, she remained committed to education, training resident physicians and medical students while contributing to the field through lectures at local and national meetings and publications of book chapters and peer-reviewed scientific articles. Dr. Scruggs' training at several renowned institutions culminated in the completion of a two-year fellowship accredited by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. She earned her medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where she distinguished herself as an exceptional student. Her academic excellence was recognized with numerous scholarships and awards, including the Faculty Key—presented by the faculty to the most outstanding graduating medical student—and the Roberts Key, awarded to the graduating senior with the highest grade point average. Dr. Scruggs maintains her commitment to excellence through active involvement in her specialty. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, serves as an Examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology, and holds board certification in ophthalmology. Whether addressing functional concerns or helping patients achieve their aesthetic goals, she brings both clinical expertise and a genuine dedication to understanding each patient's unique needs and vision for their care.
